After spending nine years with VA Whitley selling food and consumables to fish and chips shops, Carl Heery finally had enough of travelling up and down motorways.
With a passion for the industry and a long standing dream of opening a shop, he decided to bite the bullet and in February 2010 negotiated a price on an existing but run down shop. Seven weeks later and after an extensive refurbishment involving bank investment, personal investment and shop refurb from Fry Online Finance, Carl reopened Fairfield Place in Fairfield, Buxton. And he’s got off to a flying start as he explains: “We are up 70% on the previous owner’s takings and we are operating two thirds of the hours.”
