When the recession started battering Neil Battye’s building business, he decided the time had come to start battering fish instead – particularly as his wife Jo and their respective families had past experience in running fish and chip shops and catering establishments across the country. There’s a secret family recipe for their batter as well, but none of this would have been possible without help from Johnson Reed in supplying some much needed chip shop lease finance.
The chippy, called appropriately enough, ‘Battye’s’, opened its doors in September in Glasshoughton, Castleford. To help them get going, they came to us for finance to acquire top-end equipment including a high-efficiency Kiremko six-pan island range and some fridges from Fosters Refrigeration and Williams Refrigeration.
Jo said,
“We didn’t want to tie all our money up as we wanted the cash flow to assist with the business, so it made sense to seek finance.”
That help came from a fish and chip shop lease finance package from Johnson Reed. In fact, it was a friend who recommended us:
“Johnson Reed were absolutely fantastic to deal with. They couldn’t have made the process easier and it took all the stress out of getting finance. They assisted, took control and ultimately, delivered the goods. It’s certainly an avenue well worth investigating for anyone looking to take on a new venture or expanding a current one.”
