In Spinningfields, Manchester there is a brand new dining experience that is expected to revolutionize the way you eat your meals. Wahu is an express food bar that wants you to design your own wholesome quality fresh meals to eat in or take away. The concept was thought up by young entrepreneur Jamie Barr, who explains: "After I noticed a gap in the market for healthy food on the go, Wahu was born." You choose the ‘base’ of salad, white or brown rice and then add ‘protein’ that includes haloumi, beef, lamb or salmon and finally your favorite dressing.

For the past 10 years former England national representative Mat Handley and his team have been running and operating Halifax Sport Karate, providing martial arts classes from a purpose built studio in Halifax. The classes are on offer for beginners up to the most advanced Karateka. They even offer Halifax’s very own style of Karate called Bushido Ryu, which is a mix of Karate, jujitsu and Thai Boxing.

Cyclone Fitness Studio is a gym with a difference. The Fitness Centre, based in Bedwas Caerphilly, specialises in using cycling machines for personal fitness and group training. The 4 instructor team headed up by Trevor Robbins and Ryan Sollis have a combined age of over 68 years of experience and even with a fleet of 16 top of the range Matrix bikes the customer demand was very high and all their classes full. They needed to improve their facilities and get more of these cyclone bikes to meet up to customer demand.

Clean Inc. are a Stockport-based, family-run dry cleaning business with an extensive and high-respected reputation across Stockport and Manchester. With three members of the family still involved in the business, including the youngest, Lewis, pictured right, the business has been going strong but has reached the point where their continued plans for expansion require investment in new, modern equipment. This was when they were introduced to Johnson Reed, via their accountants, Bennett Verby, another local business to us.
Johnson Reed helps Hove Park Tanning Studios get up and running
David Tamplin is no stranger to running a successful tanning business. In 2000, he set up TPSS Ltd (Tamplins Professional Sunbed Studios) and had two salons in the Hove Brighton area. However after twelve years, he was faced with the decision to either invest heavily and update the sunbeds, as they were starting to look tired, or sell the shops and have a look at doing something different. He decided to choose the latter, and over the last couple of years has spent his time mainly investing in converting a property in Brighton into a multiple student occupancy building. The property was then let to local students in September.

We all know that children are the future. However for some, child care can be a great and profitable business venture today! We recently started working with Michelle, who has always had a passion for children and has a knack for running her own business, which is why when she realised that there was no local competition in her area (with the nearest being 2 towns away), she decided to set up a soft play centre, called KidMania.
Johnson Reed help established Play Centre expand
In June 2013, partners Cherell & Robert Humphries took over an existing Soft Play business. The business itself was failing, however the Humphries managed to turn it around and make it successful. Since their purchase, Cherell and Robert have only ever invested their own cash to develop the business, and no previous finance had been obtained.
