The Greyhound Inn, situated in Cromford, Matlock, is a venue steeped in history. Built by Richard Arkwright in 1778, the venue was originally designed to encourage visitors, in particular, businessmen, to the nearby cotton mills. 2017 marks a new chapter for the venue, having recently re-opened to the public under new management; Paul and Tina Waddingham. Nestled in the beautiful Peak District, the inn is ideally located to attract custom from local visitor attractions, walks and cycling routes.

Paul boasts an extensive background and a passion for the catering and hospitality industries, having owned both a restaurant and a wines and spirits merchants. The husband-and-wife team were waiting for the perfect venue to embark on their next venture, and secured the Grade II listed premises in September 2016.

Keen to emphasise the historical importance of the venue, Paul and Tina have restored some of the building’s original features, including the original 18th century structural beams and 150 year-old wine racks. The hotel has six letting rooms available, with the potential of four more and a new fifty-covers restaurant. The menu is set to impress with traditional British dishes, given a unique twist by newly-appointed gourmet chef, Gary Auld.

Having contributed a significant investment themselves for all the renovation work, Paul and Tina approached Johnson Reed to explore leasing their catering equipment and appliances, including a state-of-the-art combination oven. They worked closely with Catering Accounts Manager, Ian, who was able to facilitate the necessary funds quickly in order for The Greyhound’s opening on 10th February.

Paul commented, “Ian offered invaluable support and advice throughout the process, and was able to facilitate finance for the catering equipment needed in accordance with tight deadlines, even visiting us in person to get the documents signed. I would not hesitate to use Ian and Johnson Reed for any future equipment leasing requirements.”

It’s fantastic to see that The Greyhound Inn under its new management has already received an abundance of great reviews relating to all aspects of the hospitality, and we wish Paul and Tina the best of luck with their latest venture.
