Global IT Trade Association CompTIA have released new research showing that SMEs (small and medium size enterprises) are intending to increase spending on Information Technology products and service despite impending financial constraints.

According to the report, the three biggest IT problems for SMEs include:

  • Tight bugets
  • IT Legacy systems
  • Lack of skills

The report reveals that 49% of companies asked replied that in order to compete with larger organisations they were going to increase their IT investment, despite budgetary concerns.

The research conducted addresses issues facing IT SMEs, and provides information on how they can update technology, integrate new systems, and improve skills in order to remain competitive. 400 IT and business professionals in SMEs in the UK were contacted for the survey.

The entire report was unveiled at CompTIA’s EMEA Member Conference in London on the 9th November, during the session “Technology Trends that are Shaping the IT Industry.”
