Tonia Schofield had to spend more than just a penny when she and her mother succeeded in acquiring a tenancy for the dilapidated public conveniences on the cliff-top in Seaham. For years an eyesore on Sunderland’s heritage coast, they have now converted the building into a thriving café that was officially opened last Easter.
The £200,000 project involved the existing building at Seaham Hall Car Park being used as the shell for the new venue, with an extension for the café, through which a new toilet block can be accessed. The idea is to eradicate the antisocial use of the toilets in past years.
It was only a minor call on the Johnson Reed resources, but we were happy to give Tonia a three-year loan for her new EPOS (electronic point of sale) system. The site was actually closed for refurbishment when she got in touch with us to order the equipment. However, she was particularly pleased with our service because the restuarant finance was approved within 24 hours, which allowed the build and fit out to continue uninterrupted.
All of which goes to prove that if you’re caught short – of cash – the best resort is Johnson Reed.
